2 Finsbury Avenue: Engineering a sustainable new skyline

2 Finsbury Avenue is a 38‑storey, 106,000 sq m development set to redefine sustainable high‑rise design in the City of London. Targeting BREEAM Outstanding, the project began with an ambition to create a “Tower Like No Other,” exploring a range of structural approaches to balance performance, constructability and embodied‑carbon reductions. The final scheme adopts steel and composite solutions, trailblazing forward‑thinking strategies that challenge conventional office design and set new expectations for low‑carbon commercial towers.

This session brings together British Land, Ramboll, Sir Robert McAlpine, William Hare and ArcelorMittal to share insights into client aspirations, low‑carbon design drivers and the engineering decisions shaping the tower. The panel will explore efficient structural design, the value of early engagement, tender‑stage collaboration, and the role of low‑emissions steel and steel reuse in delivering a next‑generation commercial building.
