Rafe Bertram
Rafe Bertram’s role at the London Borough of Enfield is Sustainability Lead of Meridian Water and Joint Interim Head of Climate Action and Sustainability across the council – helping all teams embed climate action and sustainable strategies into all projects, workstreams and activities.
Meridian Water is a major £6bn, 25-year London regeneration programme led by Enfield Council, bringing 10,000 homes and 6,000 jobs to Enfield, north London, next door to the beautiful Lee Valley Regional Park.
Currently, his priority on Meridian Water is implementing the Environmental Sustainability Strategy, a roadmap for a zero-carbon development by 2030 and includes targets on embodied energy, materials re-use and accessible green spaces. This is an industry wide endeavour, and he works closely with Developers, Designers, Manufacturers, Employers, Community, and an expert team of consultants.
Across the council, his priority is helping all the Council departments embed climate action into all decision making, planning guidance, projects and reporting. He is part of a team reviewing and engaging on the original Climate Action Plan, as part of the drive for the whole borough to be climate neutral by 2040.
He is also a Public Practice Alumni Board Member and previously a partner Foster+Partners-
