Garreth Joyce is a Director at Walsh, a leading structural, civil and geotechnical engineering consultancy focused on sustainable and viable designs. He has almost 20 years of experience covering a range of sectors including large scale mixed use, all of the various residential types, as well as refurbishments/ cut and carve and low carbon repurposing of existing structures.
Having joined Walsh as a graduate, Garreth is the youngest-ever board director in the history of the company. His notable recent projects and accolades include:
- 9 Millbank which won a prestigious international engineering Structural Award for its complex reuse and refurbishment strategy.
- Camden Good Yard which was shortlisted for a Ground Engineering Award for its innovative approach to combining structural and geotechnical disciplines to optimise basement design and temporary works.
- Coppermaker Square which is one of London’s largest PRS schemes and his team improved the sustainability credentials through lean design with 14% fewer piles with smaller diameter, a £2.5m saving in structural steel and a 53% saving in foundation excavation.
Garreth believes strongly in lean design and the simplification of complex builds to deliver technical excellence and sustainable solutions.
