Alan Fogarty

Alan heads up a specialist team is focused on low-energy and sustainable building design. He is a chartered building services engineer and has gained an extensive knowledge of low/zero carbon design techniques. He is the chair of the CIBSE Schools group and is on the Future Buildings panel looking at the standards for buildings from 2025.

He lead the team that developed DfE’s GenZero school’s research project and the Energy Pod design for the retrofit of schools heating systems. He assisted in the development of the DfE PSBP baseline designs for natural ventilation and energy requirements which he helped update for use by Welsh Government. 

He is keenly interested in Biophilia and in particular how plants can improve air quality inside buildings and the resulting reduction in ventilation energy that can be achieved. Alan regularly is a guest speaker at Brunel / Loughborough Universities, an external examiner for Technical University Dublin and as well as a provider of CPD seminars for RIBA.
