Thanks FOOTPRINT+ 2024 for another year of focussed high-quality sessions and discussions, providing a unique forum for the construction industry to share, discuss and learn what it really means to adopt the 360° view required to achieve systemic change in how we shape the future.

So now we need to act.

Looking forward to pick up all those meaningful conversations at FOOTPRINT+ 2025 to see where we got to. Has retrofit fully become 'the new black'? Do we adopt nature based materials and solutions as primary design measures, realising the fundamental link between climate action and healthy ecosystems? Do we have a common language in the realm of sustainable finance to communicate and leverage the multifaceted benefits of decarbonizing and incorporating resilience into asset portfolios to minimise risk of stranded assets? Have we progressed towards one, globally aligned ESG disclosure framework (leaving the 'alphabet soup' behind) with a common taxonomy providing global convergence on how we define sustainable economic activity?

Change requires long term commitment.

I look forward to be part of catalysing change by continuing these conversations outside the boundaries of the Old Billingsgate terrace. We cannot work in silos. We need to talk (and preferably so over coffee) to move away from tunnel-visions and eliminate risks of creating new problems in the attempt of solving current issues.

And yes - it's the people that change the dial.

I feel uplifted and motivated by the FOOTPRINT+ momentum, reconnecting with familiar faces as well as connecting with new allies. I am also very proud of Atelier Ten’s sponsorship of and contribution to the Retrofit Agenda Stage - and a huge thanks to all our guests who graced us with their presence at Atelier Ten’s drinks reception!
