"No one will protect what they don't care about."

"No one will protect what they don't care about." — David Attenborough.

At Seaforth, this sentiment guides our mission to responsibly redevelop architectural spaces and preserve their cultural heritage. We believe that we can drive meaningful impact by sparking care and appreciation for these existing buildings.

Recently, our Founder & CEO, Tyler Goodwin has been sharing our innovative approach at industry events. At FOOTPRINT+ 2024, he was joined by a panel of experts who shared our passion for preserving and revitalising historic buildings:

Jacqueline Wheeler, Marketing and Business Development – dRMM
Victoria Hale, Senior Associate – dRMM
Edward Jarvis, Urban Design Manager – Camden Council
Ben Adams, Founding Director – Ben Adams Architects

Tyler discussed how refurbishment can dramatically cut a project's carbon footprint, and emphasised the growing tenant demand, especially from the younger generation, for authentic spaces that reflect their climate concerns. By bringing attention to these incredible existing buildings, the panel aimed to inspire more people to care about and protect our architectural heritage.

Tyler also presented at Innovation Zero, exploring how retrofitting existing buildings to reach net zero is vital for addressing 23% of the UK's built environment emissions. He was joined by:

Doretta Bevilacqua Gilkes, Partner and Architect – Foster + Partners
John Davies, Head of Sustainability – Derwent London
Tom Venner, Chief Development Officer – Canary Wharf Group
Anna Woodeson, Director – Sustainability and Physics – Buro Happold

This panel further emphasised the importance of preserving and repurposing our existing built environment.

By shining a light on these remarkable buildings and sharing our approach, we hope to inspire more people to experience and appreciate our architectural heritage.

Our latest project Space House London is at the forefront of this movement. There's so much potential in the buildings around us – we just have to open our eyes to see it.
